orrr, if u really want to actually CHANGE the password of an administrator acc, just right click on my computer-manage-local users and groups-users-”find the user of the password u want to change”-right click on it, and do change password. Thats it. This is the emergency password change in case you forget and i think it works. Soz about double post.

Just thought some people would be interested if this doesn’t work for them. I don’t know if this is posted already. If your parents set your account to normal user and they’re administrator, u can make yourself an administrator whenever u want and then change yourself back to normal user so they don’t find out. What you do:
1. try to get them to log into their account for you just for a while
2. right click start, explore. click windows-system32-and find cmd.exe
3. copy and paste cmd.exe to your desktop and rename it, sethc.exe
4. move the sethc.exe file back into the system32 and select yes to override.
5. what u just did was replaced your sticky keys function with command prompt. when you log out, hit shift 5 times to activate sticky keys with full administrator privileges. (if your sticky keys search how to turn it on, i forgot =P)
6. when u are LOGGED OUT, NOT JUST SWITCHING USER, hit the shift key 5 times and open up command prompt, type in, net_localgroup_administrators_”user u want to make admin”_/add
_ means space and don’t add the quotes when typing.
7. it should say, command completed successfully, congratualtions ur done. u can do this whenver u want now, without parents permission

Try your best to recall your windows password, or you have to reset it or reinstall your computer. I do not recommend you to reinstall the OS, which may lead a data loss. So if you really can not remember the password, try following steps:

1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download Windows Password Unlocker 4.0 at http://www.passwordunlocker.com and decompress it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD.
2 Get out the newly created CD and insert it to the locked computer.
3 Re-boot the locked computer and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.”’
4 Setting new password:
Step one: Open the “Control Panel”
Step two: Click the “User Account ”
Step three: Select the account you wanna to set a new password.
Step four: Click “changing Account ” and “set up password”, then fill out the form as listed. Click “Create Password”.

run > cmd > net user > net user “user name” * > ask for new password(without asking old one) > type password > confirm > restart > access admain

every time i try starting it in safe mode a bunch of directories come up and i have to turn off my computer.

Try to look for Hirens CD it has a password reset tool.

That CD has been a life saver.

do to licensing issues i will not post the link here.
I could tell you to use google to search for “Hirens”

In all versions of XP…

a effective way to login as admin is… When you get to the welcome screen. Press (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) twice.

This will brake out of the welcome screen and take you to a username and password screen.

For the username type administrator
Then leave the password blank. (Unless you changed it type it in)
Lastly login.
